PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The purpose of this MoU is to bring two institutions of learning together that are creatively and earnestly engaged in promoting 'Human Excellence' and 'Social Welfare' by way of Educational Innovations, Value based Teaching and Learning, Professional Training of Teachers , Research and Development and Extension Programme Activities.
 

BACKGROUND

Ramakrishna Mission Sikshanamandira, Belur Math, Howrah, a Post-Graduate Autonomous College under the University of Calcutta currently imparts B Ed, M Ed and M Phil degrees in Education and is actively engaged in propagating and giving shape to Swami Vivekananda's ideas and ideals on Education.
 

The Faculty of Peace Studies, Spirituality and Culture is an educational wing of the Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, dealing with adult educafci. Its origins can be traced back to over six decades when the founder of the Centre, Swami Mschalananda started, amongst other activities, adult education based on the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and various aspects of Indian culture. In 2007 these programmes for adult education were formalised and made available to students throughout the country. The mgifium for these educational programmes is through the mode of distance education which is supported by professional staff and Course facilitators and administrators. Up to 2013 over 600 students have graduated with these courses.
